Details
The British Textile Biennial returns to Helmshore Mills in 2025. British Textile Biennial is a free festival of contemporary art, commissioning artists and designers from all over the world to make work inspired by the context and legacy of the textile industry in East Lancashire and its global impact, often in the places that were created by it.
At Helmshore Mills you'll be able to see Sally Hurst’s Warped, installed inside the Devil Hole of Whitaker’s Mill. Sally's work explores histories of disability within mill worker communities & the Luddite movement, contrasted with contemporary relationships with AI technologies.
She is one of three early career artists from Venture Arts, Manchester who have developed new work in response to BTB25 themes, presented across three different venues.
After experiencing the artwork, visitors are warmly encouraged to explore the rest of the mill and discover its remarkable heritage first-hand.
